I enjoyed the awesome location of Palihotel San Diego Gaslamp Quarter, as it placed me right in the heart of the vibrant Gaslamp District, making it easy to explore nearby attractions and nightlife. However, my stay was marred by some uncomfortable issues, notably the smoke detectors that chirped throughout the night, severely impacting my sleep. Even though the hotel decor was charming and the staff was generally attentive and friendly, these issues detracted from what could've been a good experience.

Rooms
6.0
The rooms were on the smaller side but clean and maintained, though the shower was extremely tiny, making it hard to move around comfortably. There was hot water and solid water pressure, which was a plus.
Service
7.0
The staff, particularly at the front desk, were nice and attentive. However, my check-in experience felt slow, even if the attention to detail was evident. A major hassle was when the smoke detectors malfunctioned, and while the staff responded quickly, it took a while to resolve fully.
Location

The hotel’s location is unbeatable for exploring downtown San Diego. Everything I wanted to see was just a short walk away, and I appreciated the blend of restaurants, bars, and entertainment options right at my fingertips.
Dining

I enjoyed meals from St. James Diner, which was conveniently attached to the hotel. It offered good food options, and I appreciated the ease of getting something to eat any time.
Facilities
6.0
The hotel's facilities included interesting touches like a vintage elevator and a rooftop lounge that had lovely views, making it a nice place to relax. However, I faced issues with elevator functionality during checkout, which was inconvenient.

I had an overall great experience at Palihotel San Diego while enjoying the lively Gaslamp District. The location is spot-on, making it super easy to check out nearby attractions and nightlife. On the flip side, I did notice a few quirks in the room and some dated facilities that could use an upgrade. Still, the friendly service from staff like France and Christy really made my stay nice.

My stay at Palihotel San Diego Gaslamp Quarter was a mixed bag. I loved the charming, historical vibe and the overall cleanliness, but the room was pretty small and the elevators were slow. I had an lovely experience with the staff—they were exceptionally helpful and friendly, making up for some of the place’s quirks. Overall, it was a solid choice for a quick city getaway.

The room was quite cozy, though a bit on the small side. I appreciated the comfortable bed, but the limited space might not work for everyone.

7.4/10

I had a wonderful stay at Palihotel San Diego Gaslamp Quarter, enjoying its charming historical character and the comfort of my king bed. The rooftop terrace provided a perfect retreat after a long day of exploring the vibrant Gaslamp District. However, the vintage elevator can be a bit slow, and I did notice some noise from the AC unit. Overall, it was a nice experience, and I'd definitely consider staying again.

Rooms
8.0
My room was a suite with a comfortable king bed and a separate front room. It was on the smaller side, but the layout worked well for my family. However, I had to squeeze past the TV to exit, which could be tight for those with larger luggage.
Service
9.0
The staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating, particularly Donald who assisted me with my luggage. The efficient check-in and check-out processes added to the positive experience.
Location

The hotel is perfectly situated in the Gaslamp Quarter, near so many attractions and dining options. I loved being able to explore the vibrant local scene on foot.
Dining

I enjoyed breakfast at the restaurant attached to the hotel. The options were delicious, though I found some of them a bit pricey. The 24-hour diner next door also came in handy for late-night snacks.
Facilities

The vintage elevator added a unique touch to the hotel experience, but it was slow, which could be frustrating at times. Also, earplugs were provided for those sensitive to noise from the nightlife outside, which I appreciated.

5.8/10

My stay at the Palihotel San Diego Gaslamp Quarter was filled with both charm and a few hiccups. The location was on point, right near all the nightlife and dining options I wanted to explore. The vintage elevators added character, but they did get stuck at one point. Also, my room had some cleanliness issues and needed a bit of modernization, which was a letdown for the price I paid.

Rooms
6.0
The room had a cozy charm but was a bit outdated and cleanliness was questionable with trash left from previous guests.
Service
7.0
The staff was friendly and helpful, but I did feel like they could improve on communication when issues arose.
Location

Super convenient location in the heart of Gaslamp District, making it easy to dive into the local scene.
Dining
8.0
The 24-hour St. James diner was a lifesaver, offering convenient and tasty options whenever hunger struck.
Facilities

Facilities were decent, though I didn't appreciate the pricey valet fees and the lack of assistance with luggage.
